People love it when they know that they’re being heard. Institute an open-door policy where employees can come talk to you at any time. If an employee does come to you to talk about a concern they have, make sure you drop everything you’re doing and give them your full attention.
It’s important you assure your employee you understand their side of the argument, even if you don’t agree with it. Try to get them to see your perspective and come to a mutual agreement.
Show your employees you’re listening to them. If they mention their anniversary is in a month, write it down and wish them a happy anniversary on that day. If they talk to you about something they saw in the news, bring it up again the next day if you read something similar that happened. Make sure you show them you genuinely care about them.
