Ads are Front Page News

Ever wish you could get favorable coverage of your business on the front page of your local newspaper.  You may be able to buy it.  The Los Angeles Times recently ran an ad for NBC's new show "Southland" on its front that looked like editorial copy and took up half of the left news column, making an L at the bottom of the page with a continuation of the ad that was clearly ad-like.  Newspapers have been experimenting with new ad units on the front page, once a no-go zone for advertising, including spots to the left and right of the paper's name, reports the New York Times. --Jeff B.
