Company Description
Alico, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are citrus fruit production, cattle ranching, sugarcane and sod production and forestry. It also leases land for farming, cattle grazing, recreation and oil exploration. The Group operates through four reportable segments. Bowen purchases citrus fruit and resells the fruit to citrus processors and fresh packing facilities. The Citrus Groves segment produces citrus fruit for sale to citrus processors and fresh packing facilities. The Sugarcane segment produces sugarcane for delivery to the sugar mill and refinery. The Cattle division raises beef cattle for sale to western feedlots and meat packing facilities. The Group's land is managed for multiple uses wherever possible. Saddlebag Lake Resorts Inc a subsidiary of the Group develops and sells real estate while another, Agri-Insurance Company Ltd writes crop insurance against catastrophic losses due to weather and disease. Bowen accounted for 41% of fiscal 2006 revenues; Citrus Groves, 28%; Sugarcane, 11%; Cattle, 7% and Others, 13%
