Culbro Corporation is a diversified consumer and industrial products and services company which is engaged in consumer products, nursery products, and real estate. The consumer product division is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of cigars, growing tabacco and selling cigar wrapper tobacco, distributing disposable lighters and operating cigar bars. The nursery products division is engaged in growing plants and operating horticultural distribution centers which sell principally to garden centers, wholesalers and landscapers. The real estate division builds and manages commercial and industrial properties and develops residential subdivisions on real estate owned by the corporation in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The division also owns and manages commercial property in New York. Consumer products accounted for 75% of 1996 revenues; nursery products, 18% and real estate, 7%.
