I recommend:  American Small Farm Magazine will send a sample publication for a mailing fee. High Plains Journal will give you four issues free with your subscription, in addition to full, free access to the Journal's Internet edition.

Not only are they readily available, the medium also allows publishers to compliment articles with multimedia resources. You may have to sign up as a member, but that can be an added bonus. It could get you access to free sample copies or journal archives.

I recommend:  AgWeb.com publishes Beef Today, and their website includes up to date industry news and a discussion board. Western Livestock Journal is an online publication that offers coverage of the industry’s organizational, technological, political and marketing news. Cattle Today in a newspaper dedicated to the cattle industry. The website also offers a bookstore where you can find books on cattle and livestock.

Join a professional association for access to livestock trade publications If you own a business, you may consider becoming a member of an association for livestock professionals. As a member, you'll receive access to free publications, as well as other informational resources. If you sign up as a business, you can extend these services to your employees as well.

I recommend:  The National Livestock Producers Association and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association are both industry associations that offer online informational resources.
