Exide Technologies Formerly known as Exide Corporation. The Group's principal activity is to manufacture and supply lead acid batteries worldwide. It operates under three segments: Transportation, Motive power and Network power. Transportation segment includes batteries for cars, trucks, off-road vehicles, agricultural and construction vehicles, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, boats and other applications. These batteries are marketed to retailers and distributors of replacement batteries and original equipment manufacturers in the automotive industry. Motive power segment provides batteries used in forklift trucks and other electric vehicles. Network power segment provides batteries used for back-up power applications, such as those for telecommunication systems. The customers include AT&T, British Telecom and Nippon. It operates in the North America, Europe, the Middle East, India, Australia and New Zealand. Transportation accounted for 63% of fiscal 2002 revenues; Motive power, 19% and Network power, 18%.
