OEA, Inc., designs, develops and manufactures propellant-actuated safety devices for the automotive and aerospace industries. The company operates under two segments; the automotive and the aerospace segment. The automotive segment designs and develops air bag safety devices for the automotive module and inflator manufacturers. The aerospace segment manufactures propellant and explosive actuated devices used for military aircraft escape systems, satellites and satellite launchvehicles and missiles. The company's products include solid propellants, air bag initiators, propellant-actuated devices and air bag inflators. The products of aerospace segment is sold to the United States Government and major aircraft and aerospace companies. The company has foreign operations in Asia, Europe and other foreign countries. Automotive products accounted for 82% of fiscal 1999 revenues and aerospace products, 18%.
