Universal Mfg. Co.. The Group's principal activities are to remanufacture and distribute engines and other automotive parts on a wholesale basis. The Group operates in two segments: Manufacturing and Distribution. The Manufacturing segment remanufactures various automotive parts. The Distribution segment purchases and distributes remanufactured engines, transmissions and other parts. Other parts include clutches, pressure plates, torque converters, remanufactured diesel parts, power steering pumps and gears, starters, alternators, ABS modules and Ford branded car care products. They are distributed to automotive dealers, repair shops, jobbers and other distributors. The Group discontinued resale of ACDelco parts in 2002, after General Motors terminated the agreement. Automotive Parts Distribution accounted for 97% of fiscal 2002 revenues and Automotive Parts Manufacturing accounted for 3%.
