Company Description
Wellman, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are to manufacture and market packaging resins and polyester products. The products include Fortrel brand polyester textile fibers, polyester fibers made from recycled raw materials and PermaClear PET (polyethylene terephtalate). The Group operates in two segments namely Fibers and Recycled products group (FRPG) and Packaging products group (PPG). The FRPG manufactures chemical-based polyester staple fibers and polyester partially oriented yarn for the textile industry and for industrial products. The PPG manufactures solid-stated and amorphous PET resins used in the manufacture of plastic soft drink bottles, food and beverage packaging. The Group's products are marketed in the United States and Europe. At Dec-31-2005 Group had stated PET resins and polyester staple fiber production facilities. Packaging Products Group accounted for 57% of 2005 revenues and Fibers and Recycled Products Group, 43%
