Gateway, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are to sell desktop and notebook computers and servers and other PC-related products and services. It also offers plasma and liquid crystal display TVs, digital music players, peripherals, software, accessories and others. The Group sells the products to third-party retailers, consumers, businesses and government agencies and educational institutions. It operates in three segments. Direct segment markets products and services directly to customers, primarily by placing advertisements. Professional segment sells and markets the products to medium-to-large scale business, educational institutions and government. Retail segment sells directly to a selected group of major retailers, like consumer electronics stores, computer superstores and warehouse clubs. The Group offers its PCs under two brand names, Gateway and eMachines. Retailing accounted for 69% of 2006 revenues; Professional, 22% and Direct, 09%
