Getronics N.V., based in Amsterdam, is a group of complementary business units operating in specific areas of information technology and telecommunications. The company is one of the largest providers of information technology products and services in the Netherlands. The group is divided into four sectors. Maintenance & Installation (telematics installation, computer and network maintenance, network management and services) and Software & Consultancy Services (information technology and telematics consultancy, software integration & maintenance, computer disaster recovery and electronic payment services, document information systems) both focus on services. The other two sectors are involved in the wholesale and integration of information technology systems: Office Integration Systems offers a range of desktop automation and computer peripheral products, standard software and PC networks, while Communication Systems & Industrial Electronics is active in industrial automation, building control systems, data network and (mobile) communication systems, electronic components and security systems. The company significantly increased its operations on a global scale through the acquisition of Wang Global in 1999. System integration & network services accounted for 71% of 1999 revenues; business solutions & consulting, 18% and distribution, 11%.
