Applied Materials, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are to develop, manufacture, market and service integrated circuit fabrication equipments for the semiconductor industry. The Group manufactures systems that perform most of the primary steps in the chip fabrication process. The chips are built on a silicon wafer base and include a variety of circuit components. The customers of the Group include semiconductor wafer manufacturers and semiconductor integrated circuit manufacturers. The customers either use the chips they manufacture in their own products or sell them to other companies. The Group has operations in Taiwan, North America, Japan, Korea, Europe and Asia Pacific. On 28-Jun-2005, it acquired certain assets of SCP Global Technology Inc and on 23-Dec-2005, it acquired ChemTrace Corporation and ChemTrace Precision Cleaning Inc.
