Gold Fields Coal Ltd

Gold Fields Coal Ltd conducts coal mining operations at it's Greenside and New Clydesdale collieries and has a 50% interest in the Matla colliery which supplies coal to Eskom. At 31st December 1997 the company held and leased mineral rights, coal rights and freehold property in the Bethal, Brakpan, Ermelo, Heilbron, Sasolburg, Springs and Witbank districts. The average number of employees employed by the company during fiscal 1998 was 1701, a decrease of 610 from fiscal 1997. At 30th June 1998 the workforce numbered 1601. Effective from 31st December 1997 the group has changed it's reporting year end from December to June.
