Company Description
Alabama Power Company. The Company's principal activity is to provide electric services in the state of Alabama. The Company generates, purchases and distributes electricity at retail in over 1000 communities and at wholesale to 15 municipally-owned electric distribution systems. Electricity is supplied for residential, commercial, industrial and other purposes. The Company also provides steam service in downtown Birmingham and cooperates with dealers in selling and promoting the sale of electric appliances. The Company has entered into cogeneration contracts with eleven industrial customers. Under the terms of these contracts, it purchases the excess generation of such companies. The Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Southern Company. Provides electric services within the State of Alabama
