Company Description
Consumers Energy Company. The Group's principal activity is to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. The service areas are automotive, metal, chemical, food and wood products and a diversified group of other industries. It provides services to customers in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. The customers include residential, commercial and diversified industrial users. It operates through three segments: Electric Utility, Gas Utility and Enterprises. The Electric Utility segment consists of regulated activities associated with the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. The Gas Utility segment consists of regulated activities associated with the transportation, storage and distribution of natural gas. Enterprises segment consists of domestic and international diversified energy businesses including independent power production, electric distribution, and natural gas transmission, storage and processing. Electric Utility accounted for 48% of 2006 revenues; Gas utility, 35% and Enterprises, 17%
