Viridian Group PLC. The Group's principal activities are providing power procurement, transmission and distribution, transmission system operation and supplying electricity. The Group is responsible for the regulated transmission and distribution of electricity to around 775,000 homes and businesses in Northern Ireland which manages 45,000 km (28,000 miles) of network infrastructure, of which 32,000 km (20,000 miles) is overhead line, mainly in rural areas. The Group also provides specialist power utility contracting services through unregulated subsidiaries trading as Powerteam. The Group is also a supplier of electricity to competitive non-domestic electricity markets in both Northern Ireland and the Republic, obtaining wholesale electricity from a number of sources, including Huntstown power station north of Dublin. The Group also designs, supplies and constructs high voltage electricity networks for utility and private operators.
