Empire District Electric Company. The Group's principal activities are carried out through three business segments: Electric, Gas and Other. The Electric segment generates, purchases, transmits, distributes and sells electricity in parts of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. It also provides water service to three towns in Missouri. It provides electric service at retail to 121 incorporated communities and to various unincorporated areas and at wholesale to four municipally-owned distribution systems. The Gas segment provides natural gas distribution to communities in northwest, north central and west central Missouri.
