Company Description
Amoco Corporation is a large integrated petroleum and chemical company that conducts operations on a worldwide basis. The company operates through its three main subsidiaries, Amoco Production Company, Amoco Oil Company and Amoco Chemical Company. Off-shore exploration is carried out principally in Canada, the North Sea, Norway, Egypt and West Africa. Primary activities are carried out in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1996 the company acquired the Alpha-Olefins businesses of Albemarle Corporation. Petroleum products accounted for 63% of 1997 revenues; exploration and production, 21% and chemical operations, 16%.
