Esso A.G. is an integrated oil company which explores and drills for refines and markets mineral oil and natural gas. The company's distribution and retail operations included 1,566 gasoline filling stations at the end of 1996. Esso's products include gasoline, light and heavy heating oil, diesel motor fuel and chemical by-products of the refining process. Esso operates one refinery in Ingolstadt. The company has subsidiaries in Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Mineral oil products accounted for 88% of 1996 revenues; natural gas, 6%; chemicals, 5% and other, 1%.
