MBIA Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to provide Insurance, Investment Management Services and Municipal Services to public finance and structured finance clients on a global basis. The Group operates through two segments. The Insurance segment provides an unconditional and irrevocable guarantee of the payment of principal and interest on insured obligations when due. The Investment Management Services segment provides an array of products and services to the public and not-for-profit and corporate sectors. These include cash management, discretionary asset management and fund administration services and investment agreement, medium-term note and commercial paper programs related to the origination of assets for investment purposes. The Group discontinued its municipal services operations in 2006.The Group operates in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.
