The lending services provided by the Group include origination and sale of single-family mortgage loans, multi-family residential and second mortgage loans. The Group operates through two segments: Banking and mortgage Banking. The Banking segment provides retail consumer and small businesses with deposit products such as demand, transaction, savings accounts and certificates of deposit and lending products, such as residential and commercial real estate, construction and development, consumer and commercial business loans. The banking segment also invests in residential real estate loans purchased from GAMC and others. The mortgage-banking segment originates and sells residential real estate loans. The Group offers banking services to customers through the bank branches located throughout the greater Washington, DC, Baltimore metropolitan area.
