Life Co., Ltd. was established under the name of Shokuiki Gojokai, Ltd. in 1961. In 1973 it took over the business of Ticket Hiroshima Cooperative and was renamed Life Co., Ltd. in 1976. The company now ranks as a major general consumer credit company in Japan in terms of its volume of new contracts, revenues and net income. It provides shopping credit services to customers through consumer shopping credit and credit cards, and also provides direct loans to both individual and corporate customers, as well as loan guarantees in cooperation with financial institutions and leasing services, through its network of one hundred and eighty seven branches, sales offices and other outlets in major cities nationwide. Interest income accounted for 92% of fiscal 1999 revenues; finance revenue, 2%; rental income, 1% and other income, 5%. The company has two consolidated subsidiaries, both based in Japan.
