Cash America International, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to acquire, establish and operate pawnshops, which advance money on the security of pledged tangible personal property. The Group operates through three segments: The Pawn Lending operations, Cash advance operations and Check Cashing operations. It offers secured non-recourse loans, commonly referred to as pawn loans, to individuals through its lending operations. The Group also offers small consumer cash advances in selected lending locations and on behalf of a third-party financial institution. The Group also provides check-cashing services through its subsidiaries. As of 31-Dec- 2006, the Group's pawn operations consisted of 487 pawnshops, including 475 owned units and 12 unconsolidated franchised units in 22 states in the United States, cash advance operations consisted of 295 cash advance locations in 7 states and check cashing operations consisted of 131 franchised and 5 company owned check cashing centers in 18 states.
