The principal activity of the Group is of a co-operative insurance group, offering a full range of insurance and related banking services and making use of all major distribution channels available. AVBC operating insurance companies are, organizationally, combined in AV Verzekeringen in Leeuwarden, Centraal Beheer in Apeldoorn and Zilveren Kruis non-life/life in Noordwijk. Since the beginning of 1994 Staal bankiers and Vendopolis also form part of the group. Companies that are part of the group operate under their own firm names and use the distribution channels appropriate for their particular target group of costumers. AVCB is part of an international strategic alliance between European insurance companies in the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Spain and the Czech republic. Health insurance accounted for 36% of 2002 revenues; life insurance, 25%; accident, 20% and banking, 19%.
