Alm. Brand A/S is one of Denmark's major insurance company providing reinsurance, life assurance and non-life insurance including commercial, private, personal accident and motor vehicle insurance. The company is also involved in investment operations including banking activities, securities trading and brokerage, leasing, real estate and other financial operations. Alm. Brand A/S is a subsidiary of the mutual insurance company Alm. Brand af 1792 and a co-operation agreement has been entered into with a number of Nordic insurance companies. The company acquired a majority interest in Finansieringsselskabet Gefion A/S in 1999. Non-life insurance premiums accounted for 65% of 1999 revenues; investment income, 18%; life insurance premiums, 15% and other income, 2%.
