Alko OYJ(ALKO). The Group's principal activity is the retail sale of alcoholic beverages. The Group is a state owned Company, which has legislation based monopoly in retail sale of alcoholic beverages (exception being beverages with less than 4.7 volume-% alcohol made by fermentation and less than 13 volume-% alcohol estate wines) in Finland. Besides monopoly status in alcohol retail legislation also requires company to minimise alcohol related problems within the society by promoting reasonable and harmless drinking habits. In addition the Group operates Alcohol Control Laboratory (ALC) accredited by the Center for Metrology and Accreditation and it is designated Finland's official alcoholic beverages testing laboratory to the EU.
