Coffee People, Inc. is a speciality coffee retail company. It markets coffee beverages, coffee beans, cookies, pastries, ice cream, shakes and coffee related merchandise. The company had 246 franchised and 69 company-owned retail stores in fis 1998. Retailing of coffee is carried on through different stores like neighborhood coffee house, drive through espresso bar, airport store and speciality kiosk. In May 1998 the company merged with Gloria Jean's, Inc., a specialty coffee roaster, retailer and franchising company based in California. The company changed its fiscal year from December to June. Coffee beverage accounted for 58% of fiscal 1998 revenues; coffee beans, 17%; gift and other merchandise, 14% and food items, 11%.
