Mikasa Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Ltd. was established in 1962 to supply Coca-Cola and other soft drinks in Nara, Wakayama and Shiga Prefectures under contracts with Coca-Cola Bottling (Japan) Co. and from 1964 the company started manufacturing the soft drinks under license. Non-carbonated beverages accounted for 29% of 1999 unconsolidated revenues; carbonated beverages, 18%; sale of bought-in beverages, 50%; sale of bought-in food products and related equipment, 3% and other operations, nominal. Unconsolidated revenues accounted for 98.5% of 1999 consolidated revenues. The company has two consolidated subsidiaries, both based in Japan. Asahi Food Processing Co. is the major shareholder with 24.5% of issued stock.
