Midwest Grain Products, Inc.. The company produces and markets vital wheat gluten, specialty wheat proteins, premium wheat starch, alcohol products, flour and other mill products. The vital wheat gluten is a protein powder used in bakeries and food processors. The alcohol products include beverage alcohol, food grade alcohol, fuel grade alcohol and alcohol by-products like distillers feeds. The products of the company is marketed throughout the United States to a variety of industrial customers. The company operates through subsidiaries Midwest Grain Products of Illinois, Inc. and Midwest Grain Pipeline, Inc., at Atchison, Kansas and Pekin, Illinois. Alcohol products accounted for 56% (fuel grade alcohol, 27%; beverage alcohol, 12%; alcohol by-products, 10% & food grade industrial, 7%) of fiscal 2000 revenues; wheat gluten, 30%; premium wheat starch, 13% and flour and other mill products, 1%.
