Prime Medical Services, Inc. provides lithotripsy services in the United States. Lithotripsy is a non-invasive procedure for the treatment of kidney stones which is performed on an outpatient basis. The company provides thermotherapy services for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia which is the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate. The company also provides manufacturing services, installation, upgrade, refurbishment and repair of major medical equipment for mobile medical service providers. The company acquired 60% interest in two laser surgery centers operated by Barnet Dulaney Eye Center and 60% outstanding stock of Horizon Vision Centers, Inc. in 1999. During 2000, the company acquired 60% interest in Mann Berkeley Caplan Laser Center of Austin, 60% interest in Caster Eye Center, 65% interest in New York Eye Specialists & 65% interest in Vision Correction Centers of Kansas City. Lithotripsy accounted for 79% of 1999 revenues; manufacturing, 16%; refractive, 3% and other, 2%.
