Beverly Enterprises, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to provide healthcare services. The Group provides nursing facilities, assisted living centers, hospice and home care centers, outpatient therapy clinics and rehabilitation therapy services. It operates through three segments: Nursing Facilities, Aegis and AseraCare. Nursing Facilities operations provide long-term healthcare and rehabilitation services through the operation of skilled nursing facilities and assisted living centers. Aegis segment provides rehabilitation therapy services under contract to the nursing facilities. AseraCare segment provides hospice services within nursing facilities and patients homes. At 31-Dec-2004, the Group operated 351 nursing facilities with 36,995 licensed beds. The Group also operated 18 assisted living centers containing 495 units, 10 outpatient clinics, and 52 hospice and home care centers. Nursing facilities accounted for 90% of 2004 revenues; AEGIS, 6%; AseraCare, 3% and Other, 1%
