Health Management Associates, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to provide general acute care health services in non-urban communities. The acute care hospitals offer medical and surgical services, including inpatient care, intensive & diagnostic services. The Group also provides outpatient services such as one-day surgery, laboratory, x-ray, respiratory therapy, cardiology and physical therapy. Specialty services such as oncology, radiation therapy, CT scanning, MRI imaging, lithotripsy and full-service obstetrics are provided at certain of its hospitals. As on 31-Dec-2006, the Group operates 60 hospitals in 16 states with approximately 8,589 licensed beds. The Group acquired Gulf Coast Medical Center on 01-Jun-2006 & Cleveland Clinic - Naples Hospital on 01-May-2006 & St. Cloud Hospital on 01-Feb-2006 & Barrow Community Hospital 01-Jan-2006. Provides general acute care health service to patients in owned and leased facilities in the southeast & southwest United States
