Aaron Rents Incorporated. The Group's principal activities are to rent and sell of residential and office furniture, accessories, consumer electronics and appliances. The Group operates through four segments: The Sales and Lease Ownership division offers electronics, residential furniture and appliances to consumers primarily on a monthly payment basis with no credit requirements. The Group also provides them with the option of ownership. The Rent-to-Rent division offers furniture on rent or sale to customers with a temporary need for office or residential merchandise. The Furniture Industries division manufactures living room and office furniture, lamps and bedding for use by other divisions. The Franchise division sells and supports franchises of its sales and lease ownership concept. At 31-Dec-2002, the Group had 644 stores in 43 states and Puerto Rico. Sale and Lease Ownership accounted for 72% of 2002 revenues; Rent-to-Rent, 17%; Manufacturing, 8%; Franchise, 2% and Other, 1%.
