Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp (Krupp), founded in 1811 and publicly traded since 1993, is a worldwide group of companies which manufacture and market steel, steel products, machinery and automotive components. In addition, the company also constructs industrial production facilities, produces plastics and rubber and conducts trade in various sectors. After the acquisition of Hoesch AG in 1992 the steel manufacturing businesses of both companies were combined and now operate as a single subsidiary (Krupp Hoesch Stahl AG). In 1997 the merger with part of the steel business of Thyssen took place with the aim to fully merge both companies in 1998. Lead by Krupp Thyssen Stainless GmbH the stainless steel division of the group has reached a top position on the global market. Krupp has worldwide subsidiaries. Steel manufacture accounted for 24% of 1998 gross revenues; trading, 24%, industrial supplies, 23% automotive components, 15%; industrial plant construction, 10%; and other, 4%.
