Its specialty chemicals consist of Microsmooth(R), a patented aluminum activator solution used in conjunction with electroless-nickel for plating on aluminum. The products and process of the Group renders a surface with enhanced corrosion protection, eliminates several toxic chemicals and reduces plating and waste treatment costs. Customers of the Group include manufacturers located primarily in Western New York. During August 2000, the Group sold its subsidiary, The Bastian Company.
