Cartiere Burgo (Burgo) SPA manufactures and distributes paper and paper products and holds a significant share of this market in Italy. The group's major output is in laminated paper used mainly in magazines, and packaging paper used for producing paperboard for boxes. The group holds a prominent position in Europe for the manufacture of wood-free laminated paper. The Cartiere Burgo group has subsidiaries in Belgium, Spain, Luxembourg, France, the UK and Germany. The foreign subsidiaries operate mostly in marketing and distribution. Four Italian subsidiaries are involved in the production of electricity. Paper manufacture accounted for 94% of 1999 revenues; pulp production, 4% and other activities, 2%.
