Xpedite Systems, Inc. provides enhanced fax communications services. The fax broadcast service enables customers to broadcast communications to multiple fax locations by sending a single transmission to the company's operations center. The gateway messaging service allows customers to send documents from a computer through the company's operations center to a recipient's fax or telex machine or via the internet or other electronic media. In contrast to a fax broadcast gateway messaging involves the transmission of one or more documents to a single recipient. System sales and other include enhancements of the user agent software provided to clients using personal computers to access the company's services, as well as the capabilities of the system utilized to provide these services. During the year the company acquired "Swift", "Vitel" and "Comcave" these provide enhanced fax and gateway communication services and supply international store and forward fax, telex and electronic mail services via a worldwide network of computer nodes connected by telecommunications lines. The Company acquired Posdata Company Ltd and Pacific Star Communications in 96. Service revenues accounted for 94% of 1996 revenues and system sales and other, 6%.
