Direct broadcast satellite services are provided by DIRECTV to four lakhs sixty four thousand subscribers in rural areas. Broadcast services are provided through 10 TV stations. The company also offers cable services to fifty thousand subscribers in Puerto Rico. The three nationally branded DBS programming services offered by the company are DIRECTV, Primestar and Echostar. The company acquired Golden Sky Holdings, Inc in the year 2000. Direct broadcasting satellite services accounted for 94% of 2000 revenues and broadcast services, 6%.
