ALZA Corporation. The principal activities of the Group are development and commercialization of innovative pharmaceutical products that provide enhanced therapeutic value for its own portfolio and for many of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies; and the development, manufacture, marketing and sales of proprietary liposome and lipid-based products used primarily to treat cancer. Some of the Company's developed products are Procardia XL (use for the treatment of angina and hypertension); Transderm-Nitro (for the prevention and treatment of angina); NicoDerm (for use as an aid in smoking cessation; Glucotrol XL (for the treatment of Type ll diabetes); Alzamer; Stealth and E-Trans. In 2000, the company acquired Crescendo Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Pharmaceutical products accounted for 61% of 2000 revenues; royalties, fees and other, 29% and research and development, 10%.
