Keramik Holding AG Laufen is one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of ceramic ware (sanitary bathroom furnishings), floor and wall tiles, heavy clay products (roof tile and bricks) and until 1997 porcelain tableware (cutlery, glass and hollow ware). The porcelain tableware division was sold to its management as a result of a new restructuring program to concentrate on core activities. The company also disposed of Laufen Fliesen GmbH in Germany in 1997. The company has over 35 subsidiaries in 14 different countries worldwide. Sanitary bathroom furnishings accounted for 57% of 1998 revenues and tiles, 43%.
