American Health Properties (The Core Group), is a self-administered real estate investment trust which specializes in quality health care facilities. In July 1995, the company decided to separate its portfolio of investments into two business segments, The Core Group which consists of 13 acute care hospitals, three rehabilitation hospitals, four assisted living facilities, one long-term acute care hospital, six skilled nursing facilities and two Alzheimer's care facility. The Psychiatric Group consists of two psychiatric hospitals owned by the company and two mortgage loans secured by psychiatric hospitals. Rental income accounted for 96% of the Core Group's 1998 revenues; interest income, 2% and other property income, 2%.
