Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc.. The Group's principal activities is to own, operate, manage, acquire, expand and develop high quality strategic properties containing office and laboratory space. The Group improves and leases its properties principally to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life science product and services companies, not-for-profit scientific research institutions, universities and related government agencies. Properties leased to tenants in the life science industry typically consist of suburban office buildings containing scientific research and development laboratories and other improvements that are generic to tenants operating in the life science industry. As on 31-December-2006 we had 159 properties, 370 leases with a total of 310 tenants and 80 of our 159 properties were single-tenant properties. Owns, acquires, operates and manages properties containing office and laboratory space designed and improved for lease
