It is self-administered and self-managed real estate investment trust as defined under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended. The Group provides acquisition, ownership, management and redevelopment of apartment properties. The Group operates a geographically diversified portfolio of apartment communities through 17 regional operating centers. As on 31-Dec-2006, the Group owned or managed a portfolio of 1,256 apartment properties containing 216,413 apartment units located in 46 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The Group operates in two segments, real estate and investment management. Real estate segment provides owning and operating apartments.
