Vans, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is to design, source and distribute active-casual and performance footwear, apparel and accessories. The products are sold under the brand name of VANS and are targeted at the participants and enthusiasts of the Core Sports culture in the age group of 10-24 years. Core Sports include skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing, wakeboarding, BMX riding and motocross. The Group also owns, produces and promotes Core Sport events, like The VANS Triple Crown Series. On 15-Aug-2003, the Group operated ten skateparks that range from 29,000 to 69,000 square feet. The Group distributes its products through more than 2000 domestic wholesale accounts and 162 Vans retail stores and outlets. The products are sold approximately in fifty countries as well as on the Internet. The Group sources all its footwear products from independent third party manufacturers in China and the Philippines.
