J. Crew Group, Inc.. The Group's principal activity is the design, manufacture and distribution of women's and men's apparel, shoes and accessories. The Group's products include men's and women's basic casual weekend wear, work wear, sports wear, swimwear, accessories and shoes. The Group also derives revenues from shipping and handling fees and royalties. The Group markets its products primarily in the United States through its retail stores, catalogs and website. The Group is also party to a licensing agreement which grants the licensee exclusive rights to use the Group's trademarks in connection with the manufacture and sale of products in Japan. As at 01-Feb-2003, the Group operated 152 retail stores and 42 factory outlet stores.
