Leather Factory, Inc. (The). The Group's principal activity is the wholesale and retail distribution of leather and related products, including leather, leatherworking tools, buckles and adornments for belts, leather dyes and finishes, saddle and tack hardware and kits. The Group also manufactures leather lacing and kits. The Group operates under three segments. Leather factory sells to wholesale customers and consists a chain of stores located in the United States and Canada. Tandy leather sells to retail customers and consists a chain of stores located in the United States. Roberts Cushman manufactures decorative hat trims sold directly to hat manufactures and distributors. On 31-Mar-2003 the Group had 27 Leather Factory stores and 19 Tandy Leather stores. In 2002, the Group accuired certain assets of Oklahoma Leather Supply, Heritage Leather Co, The Leather Shop and Copper Saguaro. Leather factory accounted for 76% of 2002 revenues; Tandy leather, 19% and Robets Cushman, 5%.
