Lauda Air Luftfahrt Ag - R.LAI- Profile

Lauda Air Luftfahrt AG was founded in 1979 by three-times Formula One motor racing world champion Niki Lauda who nowadays can occasionally be found behind the joystick of one of Lauda Air's planes. Initially, the airline served only the domestic market but, after receiving the license to operate scheduled flights worldwide, developed into an international airline in 1990. In the year under review, Lauda Air consisted of a fleet of 20 airplanes, flew 45,694,000 kilometers and transported 1,702,665 passengers on international scheduled and charter flights. Since 1997, the airline works in close cooperation with the national Austrian airline, Austrian Airlines (AUA). Lauda Air has one domestic and two foreign subsidiaries. Scheduled flight income accounted for 61% of fiscal 1999 revenues; charter income, 31% and other, 13%.
