American Medical Response, Inc. is the leading provider of emergency and non-emergency ambulance services to more than 15 million people in the United States. The company provides emergency medical care and ambulance services in response to 911 calls and non-emergency services to patients during transfers to and from health care facilities. In addition, the company provides non-medical services to the handicapped and the elderly. The company currently provides ambulance services in 27 states through a fleet of 1,800 ambulances, all of which are owned. During 1995, the company acquired numerous ambulance service providers, including Paramed Inc.
