Eisenbahngesellschaft Brig-Visp-Zermatt-Bahn (BVZ) operates the only rack-railroad service between the Swiss communities of Brig, Visp and Zermatt. This service is the only connection available for the public to visit the car-free city of Zermatt in the canton of Wallis. All vehicles have to be parked on BVZ's own parking lots. In addition, the company operates bus services in the Zermatt region. Passenger transportation accounted for 92% of 1998 revenues and freight transportation, 8%.
