IDB Communications Group, Inc., operates a domestic and international communications network. IDB provides its customers with private line and public switched long distance telephone services, television and radio transmission services, facsimile and data connections and mobile satellite communications capabilities. The Broadcast division of IDB provides radio and television broadcast transmission services for large network, cable, syndication, pay per view, sports and special events programmers. IDB and Telegraph International (U.S.) joint venture (IDB Mobile) provides mobile satellite communications services to commercial and to private maritime, aviation and land mobile users, as well as to AT&T and all other major U.S. telecommunications companies. IDB owns a fiber optic system in Pacific and Atlantic oceans, to Soviet Union and is planning purchasing a system to Latin America. Using mobile earth stations, IDB can transmit from and to virtually any location in the world. IDB also leases transponders. Transmission services accounted for 91% of 1993 revenues and systems integration, 9%.
